Looked up one paper by DOI using the /works/{doi} path, which is not the search URL in the V example. Response in about a quarter second, with the title, author given and family names, journal, and publication date all present and correct. The payload is much larger than you need, with citations and license fields mixed in, but nothing was missing or wrong.
